WINNER – 2007 BDAV Building Design Award 'Best Industrial Design - New Project'
The interstate developers of this site wanted to develop a large scale warehouse and office facility that could service a wide variety of uses and a building that was easily identifiable from the adjoining properties. The design brief required that the building floor area be maximised to the site with a large undercover loading area and oversized roller door access. The office area also needed to be a comfortable workspace, with generous natural lighting, and suitable facilities for any configuration of office staff. The ground floor of the office needed to be versatile, so that it could serve as any combination of reception & display area, offices, and/or meeting & training rooms. Providing a first floor balcony gave the opportunity for staff recreation, and by opening a small portion of roof over this area allowed a healthy combination of natural sunlight and shade to encourage its use. Not initially intended or requested, the developers have identified this project as their flagship development.
